United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh organized the first session of Bangladesh International Model United Nations (BIMUN) jointly with UNIC in association with the University of Dhaka and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People’s Republic of Bangladesh in 2012. The first session of BIMUN was held from November 28 to December 01, 2012 at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The theme for that year was ‘End Violence Against Women’ which collaborated with the United Nation’s agenda on violence against women.
In 2015, UNYSAB organized the second BIMUN in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This opened the door for another scope of intense debate among meticulous minds over the course of four days. The conference was held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka. That year, the theme was ‘Climate Change and Sustainable Future’.
UNYSAB organizes BIMUN as it is an academic simulation of the United Nations General Assembly that aims to enlighten the participants about the art of negotiation, critical thinking and multilateral diplomacy.
